The Anchorage Inn is newly created within the original walls of a nineteenth century harbor-side warehouse. Handcrafted to follow the decor of the seventeenth century English buildings known to Charleston's early inhabitants, the inn is sited to the East of the original walled city where the harbor's active shipping industry developed as it transported the rice, indigo and cotton for which Charleston was so well known.

The port was the true "raison d'etre" behind the development of the city of Charleston and is still important on the Eastern Seaboard.

In the afternoon, you'll enjoy wine and cheese in our library along with the opportunity to meet other guests! We have visitors from all over the world at any given time. Each time they visit Charleston they stay with us again and again.
